Do you know anyone with a cognitive impairment sickness like Dementia? Did you know these people have a higher risk for: falls, injuries, extensive stays in hospitals which may lead to severe fatality?
The Australian Commission On Safety and Quality of Health are working on a new campaign to make hospitals a safety place for those with cognitive impairment. They aim to educate staff in becoming more aware of those with cognitive impairment and what needs to be taken into consideration when taking care of people with Dementia whom have a higher risk of attaining injuries during hospital stays.
In saying that, people with Dementia can be cared for at home, allowing them to be independent for as long as possible. At the same time, they will receive unconditional attention by carers and nurses.
